Mechanical Design Engineer
Full Time or Part Time Hourly Position
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate for this role will have three years plus of experience preparing and developing clear, complete, and accurate designs to fabrication precision
- 1-3 years' experience as an Inventor/Solidworks Mechanical Designer
- Highly proficient in the use of Inventor and/or SolidWorks experience
- Experience designing high precision products and machinery components
- Must have good technical writing and professional communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work with limited supervision
Responsibilities:
- Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, related data, and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts
- Create and detail 3D solid models and supporting fabrication ready drawings; checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project
- Ensure project design standards are adhered to by following published internal Standards as well as common international standards, such as ISO or ANSI
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; participate in group problem solving situations
- Modify project designs to correct operating deficiencies
- Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, manufacturing materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
- Read and interpret standard Engineering drawings in Imperial and Metric units
- Create multi-view drawings with dimensions and tolerancing in accordance with modern design practice and standards
- Other assignments, tasks or special projects as needed to support department such as special hands on testing and assembly of critical first run designs.
